Shashikant Pawar
Fine Artist & Carpet / Textile Designer

ANANTCOLOR is a space where my experience as a designer and my identity as an artist come together — transforming observation, imagination, and composition into contemporary carpet design.
My work sits between fine art and contemporary carpet design. With a background in Fine Art and more than a decade of experience in textile and carpet design, I explore how observation, composition, colour, texture, and form can come together to create meaningful surfaces.
I began my artistic journey through formal training in drawing and painting, followed by a BFA and MFA in Fine Art. This foundation continues to influence the way I approach design. For me, composition is the starting point. Before a design becomes a digital pattern or a carpet, it begins with observation, sketches, marks, forms, and the search for balance within the composition.
Nature is one of my constant sources of inspiration. I observe organic forms, water, birds, landscapes, textures, movement, and the subtle relationships between shapes and colours. I do not simply reproduce these observations; I interpret them and transform them into contemporary design.
My design process moves from observation and sketching to composition, colour exploration, digital development, and final presentation. This connection between hand and digital work allows me to combine the sensitivity of an artist with the discipline required in professional carpet design.
Through ANANTCOLOR, I present this ongoing exploration through collections that move between nature and geometry, fluidity and structure, expression and order. Each collection is an attempt to find a visual language that feels contemporary while remaining connected to the natural world.
For me, design is not only about creating a beautiful surface. It is about seeing, interpreting, simplifying, and giving form to an idea.
